Step 1 – Open a Web Browser

Step 2 – Check the Linksys Router Model

Check the model number of the Linksys router before proceeding further. The router must always be updated to a firmware that was built for the specific model. Step 3 – Download the Firmware File

Now, it is time to download the Linksys router firmware update file. In the web browser, search for the firmware file, built especially for the Linksys router model number which you use and download it. For instance, if you use Linksys AC2200 router, then download the firmware update for the specific model only. Save it at any convenient location on computer.

Step 4 – Linksys Router Login

Step 5 – Upgrade Linksys Router Firmware

  • Go to Administration tab on the Linksys router dashboard.
  • Click on Firmware Update option.
  • Click on Choose file or Browse button and locate the downloaded firmware file.
  • Click Open.
  • Click on Start Upgrade button.

If you have lost the internet connection after the firmware update, then it may required to reconfigure the Linksys router post performing the firmware updates.
